Practice areas
Four practice areas, built to work together.
Each of the four below is a complete service line on its own. The reason most clients use more than one is coordination: a tax position only works if the books support it, and a payroll setup only saves money if it matches your entity structure.
Returns prepared by a CPA. Plans built well before April.
We prepare federal, state, and multi-state returns for individuals, S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, trusts, and estates. Every return is reviewed by a partner before it is signed. We also build a quarterly planning rhythm so the return at year end reflects a strategy, not a guess.
What is included
- Federal & state individual returns (Forms 1040, schedules A–E, K-1)
- Business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065) with state apportionment
- Trust, estate, and gift returns (1041, 706, 709)
- Quarterly estimated tax planning and safe-harbor calculations
- IRS and state notice response and representation
- Multi-state filings across OR, WA, ID, CA, and beyond
What it looks like in practice
You hear from us in March, May, August, and November. We surface decisions before they are decisions, retirement contributions, depreciation elections, charitable timing, and we tell you the dollar impact of each one in writing.
Books that close on time and tell the truth.
Monthly close, bank and credit card reconciliations, and a financial packet that gets to you by the 15th. We work in QuickBooks Online or Xero, or we will migrate you off whichever desktop product is slowing you down.
What is included
- Monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
- Categorization aligned to your tax return chart of accounts
- Accrual or cash basis financials with year-over-year comparisons
- 1099 vendor tracking and year-end filings
- Lender-ready packets for SBA, equipment, or line-of-credit financing
- Sales tax preparation and filing in jurisdictions where you owe
What it looks like in practice
A single point of contact at our firm. A shared portal for documents. A monthly check-in call if you want one, a quick email summary if you do not.
Payroll without the state-agency portals.
Multi-state payroll administered end to end. We onboard employees, run the cycles, file the deposits, handle the agency notices, and produce W-2s and 1099s at year end. You approve hours; we do the rest.
What is included
- Weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll runs
- Federal 941 / 940 deposits and quarterly filings
- State withholding, SUTA, and local payroll tax across OR, WA, ID
- Workers' compensation reporting and audit support
- New-hire reporting and contractor onboarding
- Year-end W-2 and 1099-NEC distribution
What it looks like in practice
Direct deposit hits on the date you promised your team. Notices from agencies come to us, not to you. Your books are updated automatically each cycle so payroll never lives in a separate spreadsheet.
Planning that sees the tax return and the household together.
For owners and high-net-worth households, the right financial decision is rarely the right tax decision in isolation. We model the cash flow, the entity, the equity comp, and the estate side by side, then make a recommendation we will put our name to.
What is included
- Entity structure analysis (LLC, S-corp, C-corp, partnership)
- Retirement plan design (SEP, Solo 401(k), defined benefit)
- Equity compensation planning (RSUs, ISOs, NSOs, 83(b))
- Real estate, cost segregation, and 1031 exchange coordination
- Charitable giving strategies including DAFs and CRTs
- Succession and exit planning for owner-operators
What it looks like in practice
An annual planning meeting, written recommendations with dollar figures, and a clear set of next actions. We coordinate with your attorney and financial advisor if you have them. If you do not, we will tell you when you need one.
Not sure where to start
Tell us what is keeping you up. We will tell you which service it lives in.
Most first calls take 20 minutes. We listen, ask a few questions, and either tell you what we would do or send you to someone better suited.
